So I am looking into putting a mild lift (1.75"-3") on my 1996 4x4 ext cab tacoma. I can't decide whether or not I should level it with bilstein 5100s set at .84 or 1.75", or set them at 2.5" and do add a leaf in the rear? Or get einach coils? Or a full ome lift? what are everyone's opinions on what is the best quality, what rides best, and what is most practical? Also how big of tires can I put under 3" of lift? (Considering Bfg all terrains) appreciate any input!

What is the end result? Looks, function, etc. BTW, 1.75-3'' is not mild with IFS. Lifting the truck does not allow for tires larger than 265/75-16 from my experience. Some folks are running 35's with only 3'' of lift... to run larger tires you need to take out the sawzal and a big a$$ hammer.

    1st gen 5100 only have a 0, 1.25, and 2.5 inch setting.

Go to rock auto, find springs for a 99 4 runner v6 16 in rims, auto tran.

The spring rate should be 595. Moog units I think.

This will lift you 2 in with the springs, pair these up with your fav struts.

The springs are about 50 bucks, 2in lift

As far as tires, how wide the trie is really hurts. So a 10.50 or lower is less prone to rubbing. 235/85/16s are good, or a 33x10.50 if you have a 15 in rim.

Thanks so much for the responses everyone, much appreciated! I guess I'll just level it with the 1.25" setting on the bilstein 5100s and stick with the 31x10.50

By the way the end result is partially for function (maybe a little more clearance for beach driving, mild off-roading and getting to fishing spots) and partially just for looks.
