I drained my factory oil on day 1. Then again at 500 miles. Both changes done with Mobil 1. All changes have been done with Mobil 1.

Oh, and if there are any folks about to tell me the myth that there is some sort of better break-in with factory or dino oil, I have over 220k miles now, and my engine is like new, burns no oil, and keeps the oil very clean between drains.

soo for motorcycles, i ran my first few hundred miles hard... not red lining it every time.. but higher than what the manual says (keep below 6 rpm)... in doin soo the compression, the o rings and what not settle much better than if u just run it by factory regulations....my question is, does this same 'rule' apply to a new car?? im about 1k miles into my new truck and would like some insight... i am planning on getting the oil changed to synthetic at 3k miles... then again at 5k miles.. then every 5k afterwards... all synthetic..

At 6 months and 3100 miles I stuck with dyno. I have always heard to break in with dyno.I will probably switch to syn next time.

Not sure if anyone has looked or mentioned it, but at my Wal-mart here in north Tx i get 5qt jug of mobil 1 for $25. Was $23 but went up recently. It and a purolator filter for $30 bucks. Way more expensive at most auto parts stores.

I use Dyno in my 2012 4.0 V6. The manual says change every 8000 km's (5k miles) using 5W 30 conventional oil. That's what I'll continue doing for the life of the truck. I hope it doesn't blow up

I can understand switching to syn if you're constantly towing, driving in harsh conditions etc. If you use the truck for your daily driver with the odd tow here and there, why waste money? Just my 2
