Didn"t realize there was a frame recall and wash"t told about it when I bought this truck in 2010. That being said, if frame is ok, I want to make my truck better. I do a lot of ice fishing , driving on the lakes and drive on cruddy minimum maine. roads. Going with the Cooper discoverer a/t3, wanted the maxx tires, the stores didn"t recommend them for my truck. true/false?

Heard the a/t3 are very good, any thoughts?

Also, how do I know if the shocks are in good shape?

And, was looking into a Bull? bumper with a winch system.

    This a good start?

Thanx Dude. I can really see this is going to be so helpful, and very cool to be a part of. Your truck is awesome, outdoors and the like. Thats what I want my truck to be, able to camp, fish and hunt, and not to worry about it not being up to par. Cheers.

Check and see if you had the Frame Spray recall performed.

If yes you are covered 15 years from in service date.

You guys use salt up there?

Keep an eye on the frame and perhaps spray it down after snow days.

I bought a an 02 from Ohio last year and it did have the recall done so I'm covered.

My frame looks good and she will live a leisurely life down here in FL.

The only corrosion-related recall was one for the spare tire carrier on 2001-2004 models. When a manufacturer issues a recall, it's governed by the NHTSA and has no time limit.

The frame issues were all special service campaigns which are handled internally by Toyota as a way of avoiding an actual recall. Like kn38ms said, if the Corrosion Resistant Treatment was performed before the end of 2012, then Toyota extended the corrosion warranty on the frame to 15 years/unlimited miles.

You can call Toyota customer service and ask them if the CRT was performed.

A good way to prevent frame rust is to coat it with a chemical/fuid like Por 15.

Thank You guys, I"m checking into frame issue asap!

Getting some new tires here soon. Like I said in my intro, I"m an outdoorsman, not an of road 4 wheeler. So, is it a good idea to have a lift kit done? what are the pros of having this done? It"s done for tire size right, and to get the body higher so less hang ups?
