I just bought a set of Hella Supertones for my 08, and removed the red grills from them so I can plasticoat them. Everything behind my grill is blacked out so I don't want to see the red. My question is about the "paper" gaskets. On 1 horn, the paper gasket was between the horn body and the sound cone. On the other, it was between the horn cone and the red grill. Does anyone know if the gaskets are both supposed to be in the same location, or does the location of the gasket need to be different so each one produces a slightly different sound? One horn body is stamped 300Hz, the other is stamped 500Hz, and the sound cones are different diameters, so I know they are supposed to emit different tones. I just don't know if the gasket location is part of what makes the tones different, or if someone messed up during assembly.

OK, so for anyone wanting to know for future reference, yes, it makes a difference where the gasket is located. Not to allow for a different tone, but apparently it acts as a spacer. If you move the gasket back behind the cone (like I did), the horn will not work at all. Once I moved the gasket back where it was from the factory, it worked fine.

OK, but do you like the horn sound? (sound of the horns? horny sound? What's the proper phrase here???)

I've got a red taco, so I bet they would look pretty good as is behind my grill.
    Cheers-

No, I really don't like the sound very much. They are loud though, just as advertised.

IMO they sound like they belong on a Volkswagon.
