    Taking off the TRD decals and replacing them with custom ones. They never did get all the air bubbles out and looked like crap up close.

    Some stuff...
    Well I haven't done it yet, but I'm really on the fence about throwing on some rubber mud flaps up front even though I've already bought them and trimmed them to size. I've heard/read a few horror stories about them getting weighted down by snow or mud, catching on the tire and ripping off! :eek:

    plate bumper... cause now I want a hybrid...

    oh and I used to think I regretted the besttop and really wanted a backflip but then I had to haul a couple things in the rain that wouldn't have fit w/ just a backflip... oh and I've slept in it a few times too... so yeah I don't regret that anymore

    I had rubber flaps for a few years. They are nice. One went missing one day so I switched to these.

    It's only fair that I give a story I guess:

    I had the chirp going on in my blower motor and it was driving me insane. So of course, I got on my trusty TW and looked to see if anybody else had this problem. Lo and behold someone did! AND they had a solution! So I take out my old fan housing and start taking it apart. I followed the instructions step by step and was feeling great. First thing I tried to do was re-balance the fan using the two screws at the bottom as suggested by another forum member.

    No dice.

    So I took the next step and started to take out the core of the fan assembly. As I was pulling out the copper core (whatever it's called) it was stuck on something. I re-checked the instructions and verified that I had taken out all of the screws that it said I needed to. I had. So, there was nothing for it but to keep pulling.

    And I did.
    It gave. And finally came out.

    And with it came the bearing that was SUPPOSED to stay at the bottom of the rest of the assembly. It had slipped out of the bracket that was supposed to secure it. Dammit. Nothing for it but to cleaned it up, apply bearing grease (another no-no), and tried to shove it back in.

    Of course it didn't fit.

    The bracket that was SUPPOSED to hold the bearing was now sitting UNDER the bearing which made it about 1/4" taller than it was supposed to be. I tried to shove it in anyway, hoping it would slip back into the bracket (think like a lightbulb slipping into the little basket thing on a lightbulb changing pole). It didn't, and I bent the bracket. But I finally got the top on! So I put everything back together and tried it out.

    I wish I was exaggerating when I say it sounded like I tied a flaming branch to a pig and made him run in circles under my glovebox. (mind you it was about 10 degrees outside and I was about to go on a 250mi trip with the missus so I needed my heater)

    Long story shorter, I ended up stopping by Advance and buying an off brand fan and installing it. Its chirp was almost as bad as the one I had tried to "fix". So I returned it a week later after I bought the new version OEM blower-motor off of eBay. But still. It was a $100 mistake, and embarrassing to top it off.

    I've heard of people applying Line-X or other spray on bedliner to the bottom half. I wouldn't personally do it, but then I don't off-road too often either.

    I regret the "Full Tuneup" that I performed on my '99 right before I discovered the "Frame Rust" mod...

    4 new shocks (and the fronts are expensive on those TRD's!), new plugs & wires, new fuel, air & cabin filters. Mobil 1 oil change and filter. I even changed the fluids in the front and rear diffs. Less than 2 months later I dropped it off at Toyota for the last time. They gave me a nice check, but I'd rather not have spent all that $$ just to hand it over to Toyota.
