I'll be changing out my brake pads and rotors. I'm getting a regular blank, probably Centric Premium or something comparable. I'm interested in a pad that will offer increase in braking performance over stock and when towing a bass boat in the summer. I really don't think I need anything super aggressive since I've gotten by with the OEM stuff. It looks like an EBC Green or Hawk LTS will probably do the trick.

Can anyone offer feedback on these in terms of performance, dust, noise and wear? Also interested in any other similarly priced options that I may not have looked at.

    Also, are the OEM's ceramic?

    Thanks!

Ceramics will wear your new rotors. Go for a premium brand in SEMI-METALLIC. Longer life, better feel and kind to the rotors, also. Yes. EBC is a well respected brand.

I had EBC reds on my audi and those things were bad ass. They lasted forever too. Don't put reds on the truck, I'm just speaking to the brand in general. No experience with the greens.

I swapped from stock to EBC Green HD and EBC slotted rotors (and SS lines) and with the bigger tires and armor it was much needed. When I had the armor and tires my stock braking was so inadequate that I felt unsafe. Now I can brake 100% again and feel safe. It's a must for those with armor and larger tires.

I'm no brake expert, but this is counter to everything I have read about ceramics. I think you have this backwards. Semi-metallics will wear rotors faster.

How was the dust, noise and wear on the rotors?

It was noisy at first. Till it was broken in. Now it's like stock. Dust is lower than stock I think. Can't tell too much cause of the way my wheels are. Wear should be similar. Haven't had it long enough to say.

This was a problem with early ceramic brake pads. How ever this is NOT the case any more. In fact %90 of vehicles produced today have some form of ceramic formulation friction material from the manufacture.

OP. check out akebono brakes pads. They offer a "performance" friction material as well if looking for better friction performance in the higher heat ranges.

Also, if you plan on towing and what not have your brake fluid flushed or exchanged with DOT 4 fluid.
