Here's the scoop. My drivers side door lock actuator went out out about 3 months ago and just haven't had time to fix it until last night. I followed the link on here how to fix it and everything worked out great. I tested everything and reinstalled. After I got everything back together I tested everything once more and everything was cool. Then I closed the door and now It won't open at all!!! It is stuck closed! I took the door panel off with the door closed (which wasn't easy might I add). I have been trying everything I can think of and nothing is working. I even removed the reAr door to get to the lock plug to see if that might work but nothing.... Please help! I'm completely stuck! Lol, not stuck in the truck but it sucks climbing in and out of the passenger side door.

    Thanks for any advice

You probably have a linkage rod that fell off/no keeper on it.

You have the door panel off and cannot open it by hand... feeling inside for the linkages?

I'll have to check that out in the morning. It seems like everything is back together correctly but apparently not...

If you're lost with it, I'd open the other door panel up and look around at the linkages to know what it should look like.... but don't screw around with them on that side. ;) ... you have a bad track record so far with them.

    :)

Lol, that's a good idea also. I thought about doing that but didn't want to take apart the other door too. I'm going to have to at this point

So I took off the other door panel and checked everything out. Everything is the same, the rod it also installed correctly and functioning like you think it would. It's like the release mechanism is somehow stuck closed and won't release.

Is the handle binding or does it feel like it's not connected to anything?

Is the door fully closed? Try pushing on the door while at the same time pulling the handle form the outside (unlocked of course).

the handles seem to be working freely, not binding. i just tried pushing and pulling the the door while pulling the outside handle and also from the inside, and nothing. i can see the rod moving and working the same as the passenger side. i hope you can see the picture i uploaded. in the picture i posted you can see that i removed the cover that the pull handle wires attach to and are now exposed

Just an update... Couldn't get door unlatched myself so took it to my buddy's autobody shop. The latch mechanism itself is broken. He got it out in about 20 mins, lol. It took me 3 days of messing with it before I gave up. Owell at least it'll be fixed and I'll have a door that works again. I'll be tryng to get ahold of Toyota when I get it back. I'm not holding my breath...
