Stock tires good for daily driving??

Was wondering if the stock Dunlop AT20 Grandtreks are any good for daily driving?

The MT's are nice for offroad, but LOUD and vibrate at highway speeds... There's a few people selling their stock 16" alloys and 245/75/16 tires, so thought I could just pop those on for my daily-driving duties...

Are they worth having? Or should I just pick up some wheels by themselves and some different tires for my daily-driving?

 

I think the stockers are smooth and quiet. My Accord stock tires were much louder.

 

I hated the dunlops, they would slide around on dry ground and were almost scary in the rain. I also had a balance/vibration issue that couldn't be fixed on those tires.
Yes they are quiet, but my Nitto Terra Grappler all terrains are pretty darn quiet too, but feel and handle much better.
If you have driven with the Dunlops and like them and they work for your location and use then go for it. If you haven't then you should probably go with a better tire. A lot of people sell them cheap because they don't like them and that seems to be the general consensus around here about Dunlops also.

 

They are smooth and quiet, a little slick in the rain, and not the best for snow. But if you find them cheap, go for it. They won't be my choice when it's time for new tires this fall though.

Mine were fine in the summer months, meaning August here in VT.
I now run ATs on TRD OR rims Apr-Nov and studded snows on my factory steelies Nov-Mar. I like that setup a lot.

As far as the Dunlops, it took a while to sell them on craigslist. I had a 17" new spare leftover from our Tundra and it took about a year to sell. The 16" stockers I practically gave away fwiw.

 

Got much more slippery in the wet after 10,000 miles.

 

The local options I have available (without buying NEW) are minimal...

Here's what I can get:

265/75-16 Baja Widetrack A/T (with 22K on them) on 16" American Racing rims:



or Dunlop Grandtrek 245/75-16's on stock toyota 16" alloys...

Both are similarly priced for the set of four.... which would YOU choose?

I'm leaning toward the Widetrack Baja's on the American Racing rims, personally... slightly larger, and probably a better tire, lol.

Tough call, I'm sure the Widetrack's are a better tire, but I like the stock 16" alloy. I'd say buy whatever wheel you think looks best on your truck and don't worry about the tires. You'll have to replace the tires eventually anyway.
