I'm stuck between the two. I know the toyo MT is a great tire but I love the look of the MT/R with Kevlar. I can't find much on the MT/R. I heard balancing of the MT/R is horrible. What are your guys thoughts on both tires?

I have had both on my jeep. Cant go wrong with either. I ran my Toyo M/T's until the very end. Now I am running MT/R due to the cost. I would use either again.

I had a set of MT/R's on my Jeep and had a love/hate relationship with them. Aired down, crawling rocks in Moab they were completely awesome. They were pretty quite when new, but my friend said they got louder and louder as they got older. Driving them on the street no so much, I had a terrible time getting them balanced. Also they flat spotted something terrible, but then the jeep was just a toy and wouldn't get driven for months at a time.

I'm in the market for new tires too. If I was 100% off-road I'd buy the MT/R's again in a heartbeat, but for a mix of driving they are not on my short list.

I've had both. 305/75/16 in the toyo and I'm currently running 315/75/16 on the mtr. I primarily use my truck only for camping and wheeling. Both are great off road use. I'm not extremely impressed with the way the mtr performed in snow.

With that said we've only had 4 snow storms this year. I do like the piece of mind knowing my sidewall is extra strong. I air down to 10psi and never had a problem. Grips great on the rocks.

Toyos seemed like they were super heavy. Still performed good offroad.

If it were me I would run the mtr over toyo

Do you get snow where you are from? The Goodyear's are great in the snow, My Toyos seem a little stiff and less rubbery when cold.....is rubbery a word?
I like both, but for the price I'd go back to the Goodyears or possibly the Kelly Safari's also made by Goodyear! Toyo also makes Nitto....another option

My MT/R's did great in the snow... and all kinds of it (snow pack, deep powder, dry, wet, etc). They are heavy and I can 'feel' their knobs at low speed, but they are great for all around use. I wouldn't recommend them for a daily driver though. I never had an issue with balancing or wearing uneven.
