That was much harder than I expected. No one really wanted to total the truck until is started bitching about prolonged rentals, dim value etc. Then one adjuster from his insurance company made an off hand comment about how if it were up to him he would just total it and be done

I spent the next 6 hours calling, talking to supervisors, bitching, sweet talking and coordinating until someone finally agreed to total it

Once that happened, less than an hour later, my Toyota loan was paid off, forms are signed and Enroute back, and I now have 48 hours to get my crap out of my taco because the insurance company owns it

    So happy I cannot explain

There was a big fence behind the truck, but hopefully those give the idea. Frame tweaked off to the side

It really didn't look all that bad to me, but the body shop guy said that type of bend can't be fixed

You'd think they would design it somehow so that a blow to the side of the bumper doesn't wipe out the frame rail on both sides. Bolt on extensions? I bet a lot of Tacomas get totaled that way.

Just remember, you will one day be 80, IF you live that long. I know you will appreciate people making remarks like the above about you, right!

I am 70 and a couple years ago, I was t-boned in the side and my vehicle rolled over on its roof, but fell back on it's side. I was apparently knocked coo-coo for a minute or so (side air bag went off and I never knew it until I regained my senses and looked at it). I heard someone telling me to cut the motor off, I could not figure out how to do it for a minute or so. That could happen to anyone at any age. Perhaps the guy was the way he was due to being knocked in the face by the airbag and the hit. It looks like he was driving a pickup in the snow/ice, not a smart thing to do, even with a 4 wheel drive..unless you got a bunch of weight in the back.
