Howdy folks, I'm a newbie to the taco world. Was rolling with the VW SYNCRO for a few years but was tired of luggin 100+ pounds of tools and spare parts "just in case", which usually turned into "a case". Plus getting anxiety when I had to drive distance was giving me greys.. So I learned from my mistake and traded for a 2000 2.7 4x4 ext cab. I'm looking to make this into a home away from home while exploring the coast, up the Big Sur fire roads is first on the list. It came with new wheels and tires, newer shocks, rear airbags, and a bull bar which had to go (making a less bulky one myself). I decided the first step was to make it gorilla camping worthy, for those nights you unfortunately find yourself with people around and the POLICE up in your s***.

I'd be interested to see pictures of the sleeper camper build process.

Here the inside of one side box, the dimensions were 70"x15". I mirrored both sides to leave me enough room to fit an engle fridge horizontally in the center at the end of the bed. Fits when end piece 27" x 15" is removed. Sorry no pics of the process. Was done with this before I found this site.. Material fee ran me around 120$.

Very cool and kinda similar to my idea with the removable section. I will be using drawers though.

Cool setup. I've been contemplating a camper bed setup for a while now.

If you make it to Big Sur, give me a holler. I'm up in Santa Cruz and make it down that way quite a bit. Surf too!

I attached the inverter with Velcro.... We will see how it lasts, but if it works then I save drilling holes.
