    Well, I've spent the better part of a week designing my bed rack. Finally settled on a design and ordered up the steel. Picked it up on the way home from work today and originally planned on doing the assembly on Saturday.

    ...nope! With the help of one of my roommates, we busted it out in an evening. Just did the test fit about 30 minutes ago, and it's absolutely perfect. I still need to do the mounting (a bolt in each of the four corners), and do some additional grinding/paint prep, but I'm extremely pleased with the results.

    I learned to weld today too. Nothing fancy, just a little 110v Lincoln Electric Mig welder, but it got the job done.

    Anyways, enough talk. Pictures!!!

    my CB antenna is a 3' firestik firefly. FL3-B is the part number.

    added some quickfists to hold some tools. already have hi-lift mounts under the bed rail, passenger side. a set of maxtrax will go on the other side of the bed rack.

    CVT group-buy cannot get here fast enough! :yay:

    Re-did my auxiliary fuse block wiring and installed my 130amp alternator today. Thanks to BamaToy1997 for the hookup on the HO alternator.

    Cool bedrack! just so you know, wood handled tools get absolutely beat when they're exposed to the weather fulltime. Especially if you're in a rainy area. The moisture will really do a number on those handles. I had some wood handled one back in the day but have since switched to composite handled tools for the stuff I carry on my bedrack/truck.

    Thanks, Adam! I *cough* borrowed *cough* a bit of your design when designing my own.

    Yeah, I totally know what you're saying about the wood-handled tools. I've got a good coat of linseed oil on the wood and I keep them stored in my garage unless I'm going out camping/exploring so they should last. At least that's the hope! :)

    There ya go! That should work perfect. Looks the same except for the clamps. I ended up drilling/tapping the mount into the bedrack and only used 2 of the 4 clamps anyways. Probably should have gotten that cheaper version...

    And yeah, I also have one in the cab, but I'll be cooking on the tailgate as well as having it easily available for use in the immediate area.
