I'm about to get my annual bonus and I'm already looking for a way to piss it away. :D I was thinking about replacing my 2nd gen Taco's in-dash head unit with a double-DIN nav unit with a backup camera, because I already can't see jack through the tinted windows of my cap.

One thing I'd really like to have is topographic maps, in addition to the usual street mapping software. I'm having a hard time finding that, however. I did find one Alpine unit but it appears to be available only in Australia with topo maps only for Oz.

    Any ideas out there?

custom mounted tablet with a topo app. be sure to pre-load maps for your region so you dont have to rely on data service once you are out in the woods.

Right now I'm using a Galaxy Note 3 dash mounted, which is nearly the size of a small tablet. I'm running Backcountry Navigator for Android. So right now I pretty much have that. While I like the way you're thinking, I was looking for something integrated with a car stereo and backup camera.

I'm starting to think that it may not be worth the money to replace my single DIN Alpine head unit. Somebody convince me otherwise!
