I've viewed the auto tranny fluid change threads. My question is, all data is telling me there are two more quarts of fluid in the whole system than what y'all are posting about changing. I'm guessing the fluid is in the cooler. How do you drain the cooler as well? Remove to lower line? If I drain it that way will the truck pump fluid back into the cooler at idle and I can continue to add fluid? I have a 08 auto at 60k.

System holds about 12 quarts, when you drain the pan only 4 quarts drains out. You split the cooler return line back to the transmission. When instead of the fluid returning to the transmission sump it gets pumped into a container. Once close to 4 quarts is in the container you add 4 more quarts back to the sump and repeat until you have removed 12 quarts.

Hope that makes since, maybe to arrow I can take picture of the hose for ya.
