Hey everyone, I'm replacing my u-joints and csb here soon do to an infernal squeak and driveshaft wobble. I was wondering if anyone had the write up for it, I remember seeing it a while back but can't seem to find it. Also, I picked up some u-joints at a local auto parts store and was wondering if anyone had some input. They are the PTC cruceta joints, does anyone know anything about them or have any experiences?

    Thanks

No write up but I can pass along some pointers from when I replaced mine. First, mark the front and rear on the flange and the shaft so you keep the orientation correct. I used a punch and put a mark in the metal so it couldn't be rubbed off. Once everything is loosened, you'll likely need a pry bar to get the shaft off the flange, they sort of seat together and won't just pull apart but come apart easily with a pry bar. Otherwise, the toughest part was torqueing on the yolk to the front shaft. I stuck a spud wrench into the opposite u-joint holes and had stuck the shaft in a vice (wrench against the bench and the vice kept the shaft from flopping around) while I applied the torque to the staked nut. Don't forget to stake the nut when you're done and before putting the u-joint in place.

I just used a bench vice to press the u-joints in and out. I used Moog u-joints and I wouldn't recommend them. I bought 3 of them and only 1 fit, their tolerances were inconsistent at best. I also originally bought a Dorman csb from Rock Auto and I wouldn't recommend that brand either. I ate up 2 within 1,000 miles and ended up going with an OEM bearing in the end.

Thanks for the pointers. I got the dorman, looks like the OEM was 3-times the price of the dorman for good reason. I guess I'll send it right back. Where did you get yours? I called a dealer and they wanted $209ish for it. Thanks again.
