Are 5100's long enough for my all pro leaf pack 1st gen tacoma

    Allpro standard leaf pack Ive already bought the bilstein 5100 rear shocks. Are they long enough for the all pro leaf pack? Or should I sell my 5100's (NIB) and get something else?

    ^My opinion is that the standard Tacoma 5100s (for 3" lift) are too short for a 3" lift. On my rig, they only left me with an inch or so of extension. Initially, what I did to fix that was return the shorter of the two (I think it was the 8.5) and swapped it with a 9.5" 5125 with the same 255/70 valving. Then I took the 5100 what was supposed to go on the passenger side and installed it on the driver side. And, in turn, I installed the 5125 on the passenger side. That gave me about 2.5" of extension on each side. Not great, but better than I have before.

    So the 5100 is the same as the 5125 series shock, but it's "sized" for a Tacoma. The 5125s come in a lot of lengths. If it were me, I'd take my current shocks off, (or disconnect them) and flex the truck out. Then, measure the distance between your mounts. That will tell you what collapsed length you'll want on your shock. (size your shock a little shorter than this measurement). If you're getting a true 3" of lift, I bet you could get a 9 or 10" stroke shock. (A463-H5 or A4640H5)

    I'm not running a shock LOL

    I can droop the truck out on a lift..If that counts..
