I need storage ideas for my 2004 xtracab. I always carry a helmet bag with tools, recovery straps, ratchet straps, ect. I also carry a med kit, IFAK, axe, tri-fold shovel, blankets and a survival kit with things I need if I'm stuck overnight somewhere.

Getting a tool box would be the easiest answer but I'd like to not use up the truck bed if I don't have to. Are there any other storage options for the xtracab?

I also have an Xtra cab. I found a plastic container at Home Depot that fits well behind the passenger seat. With the seat slid all the way back, and folding the seat down a bit, it wedges the tote in place very well.

Here is what I did. I removed the jump seats and factory storage. Then I built my own storage.

I've thought about building some storage but I need to leave the seats open for my kids. Unfortunately, it probably means that I need a tool box.

I have a big HD open handled plastic tote bungie'd to the front corner hold downs of the bed for all my trail and survival stuff. A couple catch-all plastic milk crates for small stuff. Had way to much stuff in the extra cab before that. I still have way to much crap in there. I think the tote is 55 gallons.

With lockable canopy,,plastic totes are a easily removable option for getting dry bed space back and one of the main reasons why I did it that way.

Without a canopy,,your down to just a bolt in tool box and then limited bed space.

Plus, when the kids are ready to move out,,"Dad has a truck with a canopy to keep our stuff dry and safe while we move". :) See?? a double benefit there. Your stuff stays safe and the kids get gone,,lol.
