So my 99 prerunner has a dash board rattle that drives me crazy. I know exactly where it is, it vibrates between the lip of the dash and the defrost vent. Anybody else have this and have you found a way to stop it? I can put pressure on it and it stops vibrating, but there's really no room to put anything on top of it. What are my options?

this is a very common 1st gen problem. I have it too. best fix? fold a piece of paper down to a small square and jam it between the dash and windshield.

instead of paper i cut a piece of shop rag (it was actually an old sock..lol) and stuffed it inbetween the dash and the windshield. it's like a 4"x4" piece of fabric folded over on one side and wedged between. not a beautiful solution but it doesn't make any noise now and literally takes seconds to remove/put in

Same basic shit everybody else had 5 years ago.
If it ain't rattling it ain't a first gen! Seriously though, I had the dealer do the TSB back when it was new and it got some of the rattles and I have probably used a full roll of camper shell tape just about everywhere else plastic touches metal or other plastic under the dash pieces. It only rattles now when it's really cold out. Good luck.

Complete OME kit w/ 881's and dakars. All-Pro Sliders, CB, HAM Radio and various other minor stuff.
Mine does it too. Since the dash is grey, I took some foam pipe wrap (The 1/2" thick stuff used to wrap hot water pipe. Looks better than a piece of paper and blends in better.

This was just addressed a couple of days ago I think. Use the search button and look for "dash rattle" and you'll find some fixes.

An easy fix is to find a 3ft length of 1/4" vacuum hose and wedge it between the front of the dash and windshield.

Yeah I had this too on my 04 PreRunner... I fixed it temporarily with the liberal application of silicone spray... came back about two weeks later.

Took some 1/4" diameter foam tubing and put about 3 inches of it between windshield and dash right by the driver-side A-pillar and that fixed it great.

Ok well I have some remedies to try haha. Thanks! A previous owner had a piece of rubber shoved between the dash and windshield, but it still vibrated. Just not as bad. I'll look into it. And I know what you're saying about if it doesn't rattle it's not a first gen. My dash vibrates, both seats squeak, there's a noise somewhere in the dashboard every once in a while(still can't limit that one), my hitch bounces on bumps, and my leaf springs sound like an opera every time they move
