So I'm in the market for a second gen, so I scan CL, ebay, etc.. from time to time. Sometimes I'll see a truck only a couple years old with high mileage. Equating to 40-50k miles a year. Would there be any draw back, or worries buying a two year old truck with 90-100k miles, as compared to a four or five year old truck with same mileage?

Since these trucks are used, the maintenance logs aren't always easy to come by. So withdraw the maintenance log factor from the equation.

Not in general, no. My father used to put about 40k a year on his cars, did over 100 a day 5 days a week for work. He routinely hit 200k or damn close and only had one car that had a major issue..puked the head gasket at 210k.

A recent model vehicle, only puts wear on internal engine parts and suspension by movement. And older vehicle, will also have material deterioration by age and the elements. In recent model, it all come down on how well the vehicle was treated, as far as driving habbits and maintenance given. You can find a 2013 model with less than 30k miles that already leaks oil and make squeaky noises. On the same token, you can find a 2008 model with 150k miles that you can eat off the inside of the engine and rides like a caddy.

I think they would be the better of the used vehicles. More miles, but less hours on the truck. If you put that many miles on a vehicle, they can only be mostly xway miles. these are the least damaging to a vehicle.

Steady state driving means less wear on every other system on the vehicle. Almost all consumable parts are going to last longer. Even oil changes can be streched out while driving xway predomanately.
