Hello proud owner of a new to me 06 double cab V6 TRD Sport 4x4. I have been a member of many forums and have never seen the detail that tacomaworld maintains in searching and viewing forums. After reading for hours about different lift options, I still do not have a clearcut favorite for lift. I had a 2002 tundra I put a 3" rough country lift on a couple years back. I loved the look but wished it was bigger and of course didn't care for the rough ride. What I am wanting for my tacoma is a larger lift, more than 3" that will be a smoother ride. I drive about 40 miles round trip to work on two lane roads at around 55-60 mph. I can imagine a rough country lift on our trucks would be the same as the tundra before. What lift do you guys recommend being cost effective and still not hating every bump in the road. The extent of the offloading will be in the cow pasture and dirt roads to my house. Also, I bought the vehicle from a person who lived in Canada. The mph/kmh are switched haha. The vehicle has a lot of frame rust, I plan on pulling the bed off and blasting the frame down and painting it, any info on this would be highly recommended as well. Thank you and again job well done tacomaworld!

I think the 6" lifts are just more uncommon lifts with the 2nd gen tacomas and there's not alot to choose from, thats prob. why you are having a tough decision. I do see them some, and they do look good. The problems is, most people just stick to 3". There's alot more aftermarket support for 0-3" than 6". I know fabtech and procomp (i think) make 6" lifts, but many companies like Icon, King, Fox, etc stick with a smaller, fine-tuned design(depending on truck and application) You can cram a pretty big tire with a 3" lift, you just have to search on here to see how different people have done it. if you do make a decision, post some pics. I know there's a few guys on here with some big lifts and they look good.

You can look at pro comp, bds, zone and fabtech for a nice 6" lift.

Or if you want to go with a 4" rcd, bds and zone and you can always upgrade this to a 6" later down the line if you want to make it into a 6"

Rough country also makes a 4" and 6" but not sure id recommend this one.

I got the zone 4" and upgraded it to a 6" and love the ride.

I have a 6" PC on my PreRunner and I think it looks great. Ride is like a lifted truck, but that is what you get.

I got my truck from the US up to Canada :p

I painted my truck with Rustoleum with just a paint brush and a lift to get under it comfortably. When I first got it there was some typical light surface rust so I didn't bother going to crazy and it help up well. There are a few spots that's need to be redone but it still looks good after 8ish months and winter including burying the truck to the frame in mud

A lot of guys paint it and then coat it with fluid film.

Thanks guys, I don't know if I can justify the cost of the icon or the fabtech. I paid 12,500 for my Taco and dropping another 4k in it for lift wheels and tires doesn't seem feasible for a 2006. So my options lie in the RC or the PC 999 or 1500. Is the PC worth the extra 500 in anyones opinion? Thanks Reece and Cheeseit. Cheeseit, I plan on sanding it down and coating it up first chance I get. Thanks a lot!

I just put a 6" RC lift on my 2011 Tacoma AC. Friday will be a week since I picked it up. It drives really good the suspension is a little more ridged but not bad. The guys that did the lift said that it would retain a good ride due to how your move most of the factory stuff down. Also have a RC lift on my Rubicon and you can feel every bump in the road....

Where did you order the 6" from? The shop that put it on? Do you know the breakdown on the bill? Lift cost and instillation cost? Anything you would have done different? What tires/wheels are you running with it?

LCRO, Good Morning I had Twisted Trucks in Powder Springs, GA do my lift, tires, & wheels. twistedtrucks@yahoo.com I'm running 315/70/17 Pro Comp Ext AT with Pro Comp Ext 17" wheel. So far I like this set up. Jody & Brandon know their trucks and lately been lifting a lot of Tacomas between 3" to 6" lifts.

LCRO, forgot to list price out the door $3,700.00. The lift installed was $1,700.00 the rest was in the tires & wheels, this is where the price can really soar. $1,700.00 to $1,800.00 is the average price in my area for the 6" RC lift.

Sweet thanks guys, I am still hanging in the balance. So many options can be a good and bad thing. I am looking at doing SOMETHING this summer and need to decide if I am going to tackle it myself or pay out the rear for a shop to do it. Couple of shops around just really high because they are some of the only ones for 100 miles

No Problem, The 6" kit listed for $1,000.00 here and another shop told me it would cost the same for the 3" Kit both are Rough Country I didn't look into it further since I couldn't put it on myself. Good luck with your build and post your progress pictures.
