So I picked up my 14 dcsb trd or package tonight and got home and realized the manual wasn't in it! I'll have to go back and get one this weekend but have a few questions in the mean time.

    1) there's a black button that says "set" below the steering wheel next to the hood release. What does this do?

    2) all the pictures of the tow package show the hitch with a toyota hitch plug in it. Is there supposed to be one?

    3) is there supposed to be a 7 pin to 4 pin adaptor or am I miss understanding the toe package window description "7 pin connector with adaptor"

    4) can I download the entire manual online somewhere? All I could find were small sections on the toyota website

The set button if for tire pressure. You put in what air pressure you want in the tires push or hold the button. Low tire light wont come on til whatever you set it to. I set mine to 25psi if light comes on I know I have a low tire and its not just cold weather.
Mine didn't come with the toyota hitch plug.
There should be a 7 to 4 pin adapter check glove box or center console.
No idea if manual is available online.

You can add your vehicle then get notices on recalls. Once registered you can then pull up the manual under the Resource section.

I argued with the dealer about the missing 7->4 pin adapter. Window sticker was ambiguous enough to question it... I lost. They opened 3 others on the lot and said "see.. not included".

Above is NOT my understanding of the TPMS. By federal standard, TPMS activates (lighted on dash) when any tire drops 25% from what it was when button was last reset. It also allows to set front different from rear. If you reset the system with all tires at 32psi cold, and any tire drops 8psi, the dash light will come on. If you had front at 32 and rear at 36 at reset, system will light up if front drops 8 or rear drops 9.

IF you reset it at 25psi as stated above, it would light up if any tire dropped 6.25 pounds, meaning you've got a tire down to less than 18 pounds.

All I know is I never have a light come on cause it's cold out. Before I did that it would come on alot in the winter. Almost everyone I know with some sort of low tire pressure light comes on in the winter, but mine doesn't now.

The post (by Duke) stating the 25% is correct. Those that reset their TMPS with lower pressure have defeated the intent of the TMPS...unless you want to run lower pressure in your tires.

My truck calls for 29 psig front and 32 psig rear. I want to know if I'm 25% below those numbers not 25% below an already low tire pressure which you get by resetting the system with low pressure in the tires.

Not sure about Toyota but, some manufactures have a fixed lower number as well.

Regarding comment on cold weather, was at Costco getting tire rotation on a day when temperature dropped about 20 degrees below normal. While there 5 people came in with TPMS light. Service guy says that's when they see the most.

Also, I didn't tell them to leave my tire pressure alone. While I was shopping, they rotated tires AND adjusted tire pressure. Next morning I checked pressure and all 4 tires were 2 pounds low, they had adjusted them, and since they were warm from my 10 mile drive out there, ended up low cold. In the future will tell them to leave pressure alone, or tell them to set all to 35 pounds. Then next morning I can reset them without needing my air compressor. Normally run 33 pounds front and rear.

Mine came with the 7pin/4pin adapter.. Try checking under the back seats in the storage bins. The bed tie downs should be in there too.

Just bought a 2014 DCSB TRD Sport w/tow package this month. On the window sticker it stated that the tow package came with "7 pin plug w/converter". Since my trailer was already wired for 4 pin I definitely wanted the 7 pin to 4 pin converter. After purchasing I couldn't find the converter. I talked to the salesman (who didn't understand trucks & towing). We looked in 2 other new trucks, same thing - no converter.

He sent me a mile down the road to maintenance. Parts manager said the 7 pin to 4 pin converter was not part of the tow package. I asked him what the "converter" was that is listed on the window sticker. He tried obfuscating, couldn't explain it but never budged. Went pack to salesman to complain again. Finally got a purchase order signed, went back to maintenance and got the converter.

Persistence paid off. Although later I got to thinking. Not everyone needs the converter so if I was Toyota I wouldn't offer it for free either. (But I wouldn't put it on the window sticker!)

    Things I need to tow.
I didn't get a 7 to 4 pin connector and didn't expect to. The connector/pigtail in the glove box was the trailer brake controler harness, which I did expect. (Note: The brake controller I used offered a plug-and-play harness to the Toyota connector so I didn't need the pigtail.) I didn't get or expect a hitch cover either.

After registering as an owner on the Toyota site, I downloaded all the manual .pdf files and put them on a flash drive that I keep near the computer. At least they're searchable so you have a fighting chance to find something rather than trying to use the miserable index in the printed manuals. In retrospect, I don't plan to give Toyota (the company) any more of my information than I have to. The first contact they made with me was to thank me for buying and please fill out a survey. The next several contacts were to complete further surveys. I'm done with surveys.
