I have a 2011 prerunner with factory dtrl. I did the alternating signal mod ONLY. Issue is, my park lights/ headlights have to be on for it to work properly. If I have just the dtrls on it doesn't work right. Let's say I put my left turn signal on. The left signal/park light will alternate. However, the right park light will also flash on the right side, making it seem like my hazards are on. If I could disable my dtrl's, it appears this would fix the problem. I know how to disable the dtrl (stealth mode) but my question is why is this happening? Everything is wired properly. Any help would be appreciated. I have had to to burn my park lights continuously for a while now. Thanks.

Those lights are LEDs right? Sounds like they have some electronics that aren't installed correctly. Can you exchange them?

Edit: Just realized it was a mod. I don't know then. I would have to read about it.

I don't know much about this particular mod, but if it were me I would return it back to oem, then retry the mod. If it still doesn't work aftert that, then maybe something with your dtrl is different from the truck of the person that made the writeup. For some reason voltage is getting over to the other bulb when the lights are off. There are so many different relays for different operations. Things can get screwy if one wire is hooked up wrong.

It seems like it only acts up when the drl are on. If you turn just the battery on, this will not bring on the dtrls. They work fine until the truck is switched on, which brings on the dtrls. I think I'm going to try and snip the green/red wire under the dash and see what that does. I put a lot of time and effort into the alternating signal mod. I made it look like oem (bo

Update: I cut the green/red wire on plug m1, and this corrected the problem. (Disabled dtrl ). However , when the hazards are on the lights on the dash/radio flash. Is this normal after doing alternating signal mod?

I seriously doubt it's normal for your interior lights to flash with your hazards with that mod. Something is hooked up wrong.

Here's the thing. Different year Tacoma's use different wire colors in their wire harnesses. If the writeup was a different year than yours, then the wires you used for the mod could be wrong. It may be a completely different set of wire colors.

Example: I have a powered tailgate lock from pop & lock. Depending on the year tacoma, there is different sets of instructions for those specific years because the wire colors changed.

The color for the wires will still be there, but those wires will be powering different things.

If your truck is the same year as the writeup and you can confirm the wire colors are exactly the same, then I still would say start over. I say this because you know something is hooked up wrong. It isn't working right and the wrong lights are flashing. Somewhere something is hooked up incorrectly. At this point, you know that's the only sure thing.
