Hey guys, when I had my OEM roof rails installed (part of the deal), I asked them to save the rubber drip molding so if I wanted to remove them at a later date, I could and just replace the rubber. They told me that it would be impossible to save the molding because it had to be cut out. I am calling bs, any input on this?

    Thanks in advance!

Yeah that's bs. When I installed mine, I didn't have to cut anything. Not only that but there are plenty of guys here sell their moldings to other members without any hiccups.

Thank you sir, on the phone with them now and they are yet again giving me the runaround. They are telling me they install them over the existing molding and cut the molding to accept the rails now...

You should tell those fuckers you decided to just install it yourself and get the roof rack kit from them. The roof rack comes with it's own rubber pieces already attached. Not sure what they are trying to pull over on you. Maybe they are going to save the pieces to turn around and sell in the parts department?

Now they are telling me the precut rubber is an option, so if that is true (doubt it it) they should have ordered that kit when I told them I wanted the original rubber!

Anyone have proof for me that it comes with the rubber?

Might just have to take a rail off and see what it looks like...

Called Toyota themselves and it sounds like they are going to take care of me. The gal looked up the instructions and verified the dealership did in fact lie to me...

I'm glad that's taken care of. I wonder how many tacomas they installed with "modified" moldings.....
