I've been working over the phone and via the Internet with a dealership in Winston-Salem, NC. Specifically I'm after a Tacoma that was tricky to order back when I first started looking (Access Cab w/Nav system. More available today...) She special ordered the Taco for me, and it came in last week.

She sent pics to me today, and I told her I didn't want the truck. I mean, LOOK AT IT! It's covered in ICE!

    :D

I should hopefully have it before this weekend.

A nice older couple employed by the dealership drove my new Tacoma up to me on Thursday; they arrived with it right after lunch. Papers were signed, checks were handed over, and keys were given to me. I'll be waiting for that dealership to get my truck registered with Virginia's DMV so that I can then get it inspected locally. Until then, I have a temporary NC tag on it and the local police are eyeballing it carefully because of no inspection sticker.

The particulars, as laid out in another thread:

    • 2014 Access Cab
    • V6, 6-speed manual
    • Magnetic grey exterior/graphite interior
    • TRD Off-road
    • Off-road tow package
    • Entune w/Navigation
And I had them port-install the bed extender.

The access part of the cab will be reserved for Hercules, the dog you see in my avatar. To that end, I've already added a bed back there for him so he's comfortable in the truck.

I'm happy to be back behind the wheel of a small pickup with a manual transmission. There are things I need to get used to (again) with it, such as the tin can sound of the doors and the lack of torque as compared to my previous GMC diesel. But: it's a smaller truck for a reason. :)
