I've looking at the forums for a while now and have finally decided to join, especially now that I'm working toward modding out my 2013 PreRunner (only over a year after I purchased it).

    Here's my blank slate:

First up, adding a bug deflector and blacking out the rims (hopefully this weekend if the weather cooperates).

Thanks for the tip, I do have an AVS order already though. Seemed like it was pretty solid.

What are your plans with the wheels? Painting, plastidip, powdercoat?

I looked at all the options...powder coating was to expensive for wheels I don't plan on keeping forever so for now I'm rolling with plastidip. Right now, this is the smartest option for me. Especially being new to all this, I figure I can't screw up the wheels to terribly bad.

Even if you do a horrible job, just peel it off and start over. Just make sure you clean them really well before you start. I love plastidip, it is a great product.

Exactly my thought process. Looking through your build I saw some more little mods I never thought about that I'll try and knock out this weekend too(ie. removing the mud flaps).

Looks nice. What prep did you have to do to the wheels? Did you take them off of the tire altogether or did you just take them off of the truck and tape up the tires?

Also, with the Plasti-dip, what touch-up maintenance needs to be done on the wheels? If it simply peels right off, how durable is it if you went wheeling?

    Later.

There wasn't much prep involved at all. Leaving the wheels on the truck, I made sure they were clean and dry, used plastic trash bags to keep any overspray off the brakes and all that good stuff (no need to do anything to the tires, it peels right off), and taped the valve stems. I used 3 cans and got 5 coats on each wheel. As far as durability goes, we'll see. They say it can last up to 3 years and should handle regular wear and tear just fine. The plasti-dip bonds to itself so touch ups shouldn't be a problem. It might not be the best for off-road but I haven't had any experience. My thought process was for $5 a can I'll give it a shot and see how it plays out, if it's too much work or doesn't look good I'll just peel it off. It's a very cheap way to totally change the look of your vehicle. As of right now I'm happy with it...ask me in a week or month or two and maybe my tune will change.

Good stuff, again...looks great and I think I might just give it a shot as well.

    Later.
