    Just wanted to make sure I ordered everything I'll need. A little background, it's 05 DC w/ JBL package. Can't wait to get this installed. So here's what I have coming my way:

    Headunit:
    Pioneer AVH-X3600BHS

    Door Speakers:
    Polk Audio DB6501 components for front
    Polk Audio DB651 coax for the rear
    Going to make speaker adapters? Any suggestions? I saw on here somewhere that someone made some out of cuttings boards from walmart. Any clue where that link is again?

    Radio On Mod, Complete new stereo with 10" subs, Truxedo bed cover, GT-MAT through doors and rear cab.
    Looks pretty good. I made my speaker adapters out of a 2 x 2 foot piece of wood I got at Lowes. I used a drill and a jigsaw after tracing the shape of the stock speakers. Was pretty easy (see my link below).

    You've got quite a bit of stuff coming your way! :)

    You look set to go. As far as the adapters are concerned you can use wood (the denser the better for less resonance - most choose MDF for this reason - density to cost ratio) or, like the post you referenced, a poly plastic of some sort. I prefer MDF due to it's acoustic properties, but that's just my personal opinion. You will want to seal the wood from moisture in some way once you trace the templates out and cut them. MDF swells like a tick when it gets a whiff of H2O. Poly or plastic is resistant to this hence the popularity. Plus its easy to mill if you have a cnc like I assume T.T. does for it's adapters.

    Well if it saves me time and hassle I'm ordering one too! What about the baffles? That's the first time I've seen those mentioned. They effect sound quality any from what you've read, or just protect the speaker is main focus?

    A little of both but mostly the latter;

    The main things you can do to effect the sound quality of your door speakers is to create a resonant free place for them to live. Keeping moisture out is a big plus too - you'll see when you take the factory speakers out they have a plastic shroud molded into the basket to keep excess water off the back of the driver. The speaker baffles can, in effect, do the same thing. Making sure your adapter plate/baffles for the new speakers are solid and resonant free as well as sound deadening the door will do wonders for sound and will net you the most improvement. :cheers:

    Im going go keep the jbl sub for now. Down the road I may switch it out but I dont listen to bass heavy music very much.
    I couldnt find anything different. I found the 3600bhs on sale so went with that one.
