Just checked at post office and cheapest shipping would run approximately $65 for all 4 wheels to be shipped from my location (Albuquerque,NM) to El Paso.

I'm in Abq and really really want these wheels but the brand new BFG A/T tires I got are for my 17" sport wheels :( any ideas for a way around this?

You would need tires to fit 16's. Unfortunately these particular TRD's don't come in anything other than 16", so that makes it a little more difficult because you don't have as many options. What size of tire are your BFG's? 265 70/17? 285 70/17? or something else?

they're 265/65/17. i didn't anticipate when i bought them that i'd want to get bigger tires, but now i'm feeling like i want to lift it (not sure how...maybe 5100's) and put some 285s on it. i don't see any way of doing this cheaply or in the near future though, especially since i just bought my 265 BFGs and they only have a couple thousand miles on them

Yeah I'd say since your BFG's are so new, you might as well use them until they're worn and eventually you can switch to 16" tires and wheels.
