My taco is an 08,v6,4x4,DC,rear LSD,FG bed cover and a Gibson cat back. Sounds throaty. Just couldn't stand a too quiet vehicle. 19mpg highway at 10mph over the limit empty. 100,000 miles. No problems. Replaced tires around 50,000 and brakes. Everything scheduled maint except oil change every 5000 miles.Run Rotella T6 fully synthetic oil 5-40 with 1200 ppm zddp so my cat might not last 400,000 miles.
The only thing that will get me to buy a new one is if this one gets wrecked. No way would I consider a newer one until the next significant model change. 2016? And it has a turbo diesel. Say 2.4L
You know a full size dodge ram 1500 now gets a 3.0L turbo diesel and can get 28-29 mpg on the highway. A diesel can always be tuned way up too.
Can someone tell me what the hell Toyota is waiting for. Dealer keeps sending messages and calling. Buy a new one and we will give you a GREAT trade in value that you won't believe. Get your truck sold the same day. My answer is write or call when you put a diesel in it and a much nicer interior. Leather maybe?
SureI find my cloth seat version completely comfortable hour after hour on the road. But leather would be so nice.
I have had 1500 lbs in the bed with no problems. Plenty of power, brakes adequate, not even close to the bump stops. GTS Bruce

    1. No competition
    2. Why risk making a crappier follow up generation to a proven model that has 70% of the compact truck market in its tenth year?
    3. Toyota's truck focus is on how to be competitive in the full size market, not on leading the compact market that they already dominate.
    4. This has been hashed and rehashed here. Take a look at the infinitely long threads where someone claims to know the details about a new model next year, and the same 6 photoshop hack jobs get posted over & over.

well, sounds like your happy with your truck but want it diesel. trust me, im a believer in the idea, but.

what new diesel can match the everyday turn-key-and-go of your current truck?.

new dodge sucks. new ford sucks. gm. . . . .well, no comment I think all the duramaxes sucked/sucks. this is only knowledge I gain from family that had or does own above diesel vehicles, or the ford reference actually came from a string of trucks the company I work for bought.

imo, diesel became worthless when ford quit the 7.3 and dodge quit the 5.9. too much crap on them now for them to make reliable power.

I actually have, in front of my house, a dodge 5.9HO with 6spd with aftermarket pump and tuning available from stock to whatever quadzilla claims max tune is. truck is a pita to drive. stock tune gets the truck rolling with acceleration akin to my 92 Toyota 4cyl. it could pull a house at the same rate, but that is the rate of acceleration. max tune nets you a super narrow powerband, and eyes glued on egt's and boost pressure. its fast between the start of power and the next shift

be patient, and assume Toyota is trying to make reliable diesel tech that the masses can enjoy
