I have a 2010 Tacoma with elect. door locks, but no keyless entry. Suppposedly from the build sheet it wasn't included. What wasn't included? Is it a software issue or do I need to add something in the equation? If someone could enlighten me I would appreciate it. Thanks.

It means you need to install your own aftermarket keyless entry or alarm with keyless entry. You will get a set of remotes that will unlock your doors. I.E. all keyless entries use power door locks, but not all power door locks use keyless entry.

I've investigated the aftermarket deals, and they don't give me a warm fuzzy feeling at all. I've gotten the full gamut--chinsy, chinsy, chinsy is the word. If there is a way to remedy this with original equipment, I hope to do it. I'm just attempting to find out what I need to do/purchase to make this happen. Any help in this regard would be most appreciated. And yes, the beer is on me! Thanks.

Going with a factory system would be prohibitively expensive, all a dealer would do is put an aftermarket one in. Honestly your best bet would be to find a place that does aftermarket stereos, alarms, etc. and ask them for a keyless system that would suffice.

If you are really stuck on getting a factory system you will need to go to the Toyota parts counter or find a supplier on the web. Get ready for sticker shock though!

Bump: aftermarket or oem, like to see what others have installed for keyless entry.

Bump for more info. Bought a base 2014 AC 4x4 5spd 4cyl about two weeks ago. It has electric locks, but no keyless entry. Been looking to do the same, but I've only seen some threads saying they used a viper system.
