Does anyone have a pic of how much of a gap there should be between the Apex front bumper and the fenders and grille? I just installed the Apex front bumper and the gap looks kinda big, curious if its normal, or a culprit of tolerance stacking?

It should be about 3/8" - 5/8" for body movement.

I have about 1/2" vertical gap from the sides to the fender. It's the front to back gap that seems large. Almost like the bumper needs to be mounted another 1/2" rearward. It's installed without any of the spacer shims, so it's as rearward as it can go.

That's normal for other plate bumpers at least, I'm not sure about APEX. These trucks bodies moves independently of the frame significantly, so you need that gap in order to not push up against body panels/trim.

Yup I made the gap even bigger after the body flex from offroading (ok i drove off a 3 foot almost vertical drop and nosed dived into the sand) popped both my fender flares. It is amazing how much body flex there is.

I have a half inch of space on both sides of my bumper but when I offroad the bumper tries to take the fenders off. You have to leave room for movement.

Not alot. I used a floor jack with a block of wood ontop to snug it up.
