Right but the dealers won't show all this to the poor guy. They will try to get it at rough trade before all options which is why he needs to see it with them and do some back and forth.

Wrong. Go to a car auction, every dealer there buying a car will have a mini NADA guide book. There are little books showing previous sold cars and what they sold for which is another guide but their base is NADA.
I'll reiterate I am a dealer. Dealers don't and cannot rely on those books like NADA because prices at auctions go up and down on a daily basis.
Right now for example prices are crazy at auctions because they all need stock because everyone's tax money came in and they are buying cars therefore I gotta pay say 4500 for an 03 Subaru forester in order to be high bidder where as 4 months ago I could have bought it for 3500.

Nothing is free. Do what ever makes you comfortable. You will be much happier when you can gain control over the new car/truck bug. Plus you will have more money in your pocket.

Once I attained adulthood I have always kept my vehicles at least 8 - 10 years. You are losing money in most cases if you don't.

Access Literider Tonneau, GO RHINO Dominator II side steps
I leased this truck for 36 months. 1 time payment of 12k. So 333.33/ month. I am 15 months in. Total 5k used. My residual/buyout is 20260. II am getting 27000. So I am getting 6740 in equity. I get to drive until the new one comes in. TThey estimate July. That will put me exactly 18 months into my lease which would be 6k worth of payments. II am only paying 5k to drive this truck for 1.5 years. That made my payments effectively 277.78/ month for the 18 months. It will be even less if the new one comes later. IIt is coming from Japan.

    Do dents and scratches count?
You want to talk about depreciation. I had a 2005 GMC 2500HD. Purchased it new for 31K and change. Two years later was buying my first house and couldn't afford to make payments on the truck as well. The dealer would only give me 10K for it. It was show room condition with 39k miles. Ended up selling it private party, but couldn't get anyone to shell out 18k on a used truck at the time. This was during the early days of the recession. Sold it to a buddy for 13,500 which was my payoff amount. He still has that truck and loves it.

I have a feeling the depreciation on yours may have been caused by other factors
