A few reasons I can see instantly:

    - Unknown warranty support
    - Low beam only
    - Generic parts
    - Glare in factory housings

Thanks. I'm not a light guy but would like to upgrade my headlights. Where should I start? What is a good budget product for those who aren't lighting "nerds" (I use this term with much respect as I am nerdy in many other areas).

When you say "low beam only," how would this setup affect my highbeams? Would they disappear or would they be the same as stock(how?)?

I hate to be an idiot but this is really not my arena.

A good budget setup would be something even cheaper if you're ignoring these fake warranties, something like DDM is OK for a budget build--I have no problems admitting that. Otherwise, you can do a retrofit on the cheap with good planning.

Your high beams would disappear with this kit. The system would literally shut off when you go to high beams.

Andrew, thank you so much. I will look into DDM some more to figure out what I would need. Initial browsing was difficult on my windows 8 tablet but that happens haha.
