Sounds identical to my 2013 with 6K miles. The thing I don't like the most is when backing out of my driveway the truck goes into reverse very smoothly. When I shift from reverse to drive the truck always jerks forward and the front end lifts up abut 3/4". I wish it was a smoother transmission all around.

I checked the fluid level on my own and found it to be low. I took it to the dealer and they checked it and said the level is fine. I will be checking it again soon and filling it my own.

I'll be going back next week. I'm well covered warranty wise, up to 75000 by Toyota and up to 100,000 with CarMax.

The only reason I didn't run down to the deal first, everything was so minor I wanted to research it first just in case there was nothing really wrong. I don't want them to keep my truck for 3-5 days driving an inferior loaner unless I need to.

After reading everything, I'm convinced the downshifting is normal, and way way better than the 1st transmission. I wish I could describe the slight hesitation accurately. It really may have been the relearning thing. it only happened twice, and was barely noticeable. Has not done it again, and it is running very smooth.

The 1st tranny bit the bullet because it was low on transmission fluid, and the 1st owner did nothing about it.

Reason I asked about Scangauge and Ultragauge, I was told the dealership can check the tranny fluid level electronically. If they can do that, you would think that Scangauge or Ultragauge could do it as well.

CarMax and Toyota did not tell me this, one of my customer who used to be a mechanic did. All CarMax told me about the original tranny is the fluid was low, they got error codes and replaced the transmission. No runaround.

I know it's a new transmission, my mechanic changed the oil when I got it back and had me look at it up on the rack. You could tell the transmission was brand spanking new. I could get him to check the fluid level, but I want Toyota to do it. There should be no reason for it to be low, unless the transmission was shipped to the dealer prefilled. It is not acting like the original, but if that slight hesitation had anything to do with a low fluid level I want to know.

You do need to go back to your dealer, your under factory warranty. Don't let them tell you nothing is wrong when it looks like it is.
