    Hello,
I am a new member and have searched all the other threads regarding a ticking sound that is not coming from the engine. I thought I would ask my question in a new thread since the other threads do not seem to address my situation.

I have a 2013 4x4 double cab. During cold starts, anything below 5 degrees Celsius, there is a ticking sound that appears to be coming from the the lower left side of the engine compartment. It is not coming from the engine. The ticking will intermittently start at idle, and then when you accelerate, the ticking will speed up or slow down depending on speed changes.

It does go away after the truck warms up.
I brought the truck to Toyota on 2 separate occasions and they told me this was normal. One of the mechanics suggested that there is a fuel line underneath the truck that has a pump with a piston in it that might be causing this noise. Again, the sound is coming from the lower left engine compartment.

Does anyone else have this same type of noise since Toyota said this is "normal". I dont think a $40k truck should sound like crap. I expected a lot better.

    Looking forward to your responses.

I have the same noise, if I don't let it warm up on cold days. Mines a 2013 v6 4.0.

I also have the windshield noise, the hard start at +5, and the jumping forwards at stop lights. Toyota doesn't fix the problems from year to year, I've had a 2007, 2011, and a 2013. All of them have had the same stupid problems, don't even care anymore, the 2013 won't be fixed, don't have a care in the world to go and bug the dealer about it, total waste of time. This is going to be the last Tacoma I ever buy.
