Just installed new clutch disc, t.o. bearing, pressure plate, and resurfaced flywheel, now put everything back together and retaining fork is hitting pressure plate and clutch is not fully disengaged to start engine. 05 4.0 4x4

Did you put the clutch disc in backwards?

The flywheel cant go backwards but i have seen people install the clutch disc backwards as well as not installing the clutch release bearing properly .
Dont know why everyone calls it a throw out bearing ...it doesnt throw anything out . Its a clutch release bearing . lol
So he pushes the clutch pedal to the floor and hears rubbing sound .
Are you able to see this happening or guessing at what you think is going on ?

He posted in another thread that the pedal would not depress all the way to start it, so the fork is hitting the clutch cover before the full stroke. With a hydraulic clutch, that means that the release bearing end of the fork is too far forward when at rest. A disc in backwards, or the release fork not engaged properly in the release bearing are about the only two possibilities assuming all parts were correct.

Did the release bearing look exactly the same as the old one, save the larger pilot bore in the URD bearing? I ask because the latest TSB for bearing noise replaces the fork, pivot, bearing, and slave cylinder with redesigned parts. This TSB was released mid 2011, so if it was into a dealer for that issue since then, that could be the issue.

Great point there LandPhil . Over the years , I have seen a lot of mismatched parts coming from OEM as well as the aftermarket . Its imperative to match up the parts you remove with the parts you are installing .Two fold when installing a new clutch .

I too have installed a centerforce II clutch and a URD/PDM bearing and had the problem of the fork rubbing on the pressure plate. How did you fix it?
