Just wondering how come 01-04 tacoma look higher then my 99, and really all 96-00? I know they usually run bigger tires, but it looks like a suspension difference, as you can see more axle and the rear end on these tacomas are higher then the front, while my 99 really sits level. Anybody know why the difference? Is there any difference, or am I just crazy?

    you're just crazy.

your truck might just be sagging from old age. They all used the same suspension (other than 95-97 rear leafs) for all the generations so they should all sit about the same.

I thought they all shared the same suspension. But every taco I see with the 99 body style sits level like mine, while the 01-04 sit with a higher rear end

It always seemed to me that my 99 had a saggy front end, sitting just slightly lower than the back even when new, right off the floor. Maybe I was wrong, maybe it was level and it just looked that way to me. Could have been the body style change I guess. Drove a 1985 SR5 purchased in 1986 up until getting this one.

Isn't that how trucks usually are set up? To allow more movement in the rear when youre carrying something in the bed or towing?

Yes usually trucks rears are higher then the front. Some kind of rediculous. My 99 just is level. Not higher front or back, and I see a lot like that from 98-00 body style

I dunno, maybe I bought into the hype that was put out around 2000 and earlier that Tacomas sagged in the front. Lots of magazines and editorials were talking it up back then. Then the lift kit company's exploded on this truck just due to that public train of thought and the writeup's. There wasn't a whole lot available as far as lifts were concerned,,I looked hard back then. It was a full on DIY deal.

I could see a Prerunner being set like that,,but not a 4WD. Almost all 2wd trucks are. 4wd's,,not so much or as bad?.

So I waited until the proper tech and materials caught up and the price went down,,and fixed it in 2011,,lol.
