    In need of $$$
What would you do?? Let me start off with no, I do not just have bags of dollars laying around.. Never did, but I get what I can, and have a VERY loving wife... I also plan on keeping my truck till it dies (or if we every move off the rock and have permission to go 4x4 - unless I just convert).

After safety check yesterday, needing to replace my LCA Ball Joints. It is bad and spitting out grease. Looking into new ball joints looks to be more of a PITA that even lifting my truck. Possible even changing spindles/knuckles...

Called Servco to find out that it will be $445 for each side. 9 Bills, plus needing to have alignment done as you need to totally take off the LCA which includes the cam bolts. Thinking I would just have Scottys do the install and align at the same time.

OEM (crappy BJ that did last at least 6.5 years) = $900
    Dirt King (uniball) = $1400
    Total Chos (uniball) = $1600

I know that if money is a total and "only" concern then OEM would be the way to go.. I also know that the other 2 options would be total overkill for the type of off-road that I do. My grandfather did drill into my head though that whole thing about buying it right the first time. If uniball is the way to go and it will be a one purchase and forget about it, that is one thing.. I just don't want to spend a grand, and wished I spent a couple hundred more for better and longer lasting quality..

    What say you.....

does it need a steering wheel control adapter? I'm just adding the 12in P3 for added bass for now.

Money doesnt grow on trees in my house either. I was also told by my grandfather buy once, cry once. The difference is $500 yes thats a chunk of change but if it will last (i dont know much about uniballs) then its prob worth it. I'm sure others with more info will chime in.

Uniballs is not a install and forget thing tho. They have no boot, so they need to be cleaned and oiled with a dry Teflon or wax frequently. My UCAs squeak and then needs attention maybe every two months. The upside is they are easily replaceable, but a little expensive. Search some thread about the TC UCAs. That will give you a better idea about uniballs, and if it's worth it to you. But if you go TC lowers, you may as we'll go TC uppers, and then full mid travel too :D
I know... I'm not helping

is that cost just for the balljoint or the LCA?

i think Moog makes a balljoint that would work which is greasable and affordable

i've noticed my balljoints are leaking some. should start looking at options now rather than later.

at least you don't drive your truck everyday :p

Fits perfectly with no issues. I had the single and now double din kits both are good. I haven't seen the 2012+ kits though.

    Same here Ronald is great!

+1 for Midnight. Ron is awesome He did my old townhome awhile back and matched the older tint perfectly. Plus he did my coworkers Lexus ISF.

Make sure you let him know that the guys from the Air Guard recommended him to you.

Do it! I was going to do some cables on mine when I did the front bumper, but I dig prerunenrs so it didn't look right.

I second Al's, did all mine in 3M ceremic. Lifetime warranty.

Lmk when and if I can make it, I'll lend a hand!

I still have a lot of 1" 3M VHB left! It's a roll so take what you need! It's the thicker foam one like on the factory lettering. The clear one is a lot more low profile, but it doesn't conform to minor surface imperfections as well. If you buy a roll, be careful, I've stuck a good 25' of that stuff on my truck! Too easy to slap stuff on when you have a huge roll staring you in the face..

Just helped my friend install an 8500 in his civic last week, very cool head unit! Makes me upgrade reads my old 3200.. He used the Socosche and it looked great! I have the Metra one and it's fine, but the first one came in broken from Amazon so I had to have it replaced.

If was me, I would get the dirt kings and paint them orange :p

Not just that they are stronger, but they are easier to service yourself. Don't need a press, usually just some snap ring pliers.

Man, three replies is what happens when I'm on my phone :/

I lube mine with graphite twice a year and they seem pretty quiet. I did notice one of the smaller ball joints feeling just a little loose, but not bad at all.

Yeah I'm pretty sure moog makes some. And that price is probably just ball joints with labor. I would suspect factory LCA's to be around $400 each without labor. But can always put them in yourself.

    Basterd...

Looks extremely awesome though! And pretty expensive :p
