Can I Switch a 2003 diff. for a 99

    I need a differential for my 1999 tacoma v6 prerunner. sr5. the original one has positraction and found one of a 2003 tacoma in a good price and I want to know if it will fit on my 1999. thanks. Its very urgent

    it is the same diff. By this i mean e locker and open.

    the Elocer is an 8'' diff

    open is a 8.4''

    If they are the same one, they will transfer no problem. Your a prerunner so won't have to worry about matching diff ratios. But may want to know what your getting as it'll change how the truck feels and drives.

    thanks for the response. how can I measure if the diff is 8.0 or 8.4?

    Started automatic. Swapped to manual
    The driver door jamb code will tell unless it has been changed.

    99's came with limited slip? Is it a locking diff?

    No. LSDs weren't put in tacomas till 06 I believe.
