taco leveling problem

Hi everyone,
I recently broke my divers side leaf spring and replaced them with the skyjacker lift leafs. It says it only lifts 1.5 to 2" but mine went up 3". Anyways now my rear is way up and I want a cheap way to level it out. Is there any way for me to use a longer rear shackle to lower the rear? I really can't afford new struts in the front and I read the lift spacers are a bad idea.

Not cheaply. I'd remove and sell whatever lift you got and get one that works for what you want.

If your looking for cheap I hate myself for saying this but front spacers are your best bet.

It might settle, but probably not. I'd throw a 2" spacer up front.

 

Thanks guys I was hoping to find longer shackles to drop the rear down. Guess they don't make them.

5100's are a better option than spacers anyway. They'll ride better and it'll be safer overall. You have to get the front aligned either way, so you may as well do it right once.

I was looking at the front strut mounting...do I really need an alignment after? I shouldn't need to touch the steering arms... just wondering. Thanks

 

I'm not sure why you think longer shackles would DECREASE your ride height. A longer shackle will increase the distance from the frame mounting point to the leaf mounting point therefore INCREASING your ride height, not decreasing. This is a fairly common mod on Tundras, but I'm not sure on Taco's. Also note that a 1" longer shackle will not result in 1" of lift due to the geometry.

I have an 09 taco. My springs hang above the shackle perches...so if I put longer shackles it would make the truck sit lower. I do realize that 1 inch longer shackle will not equate to 1 inch difference in height.

Lift fundamentally changes camber and caster - the two biggest things you're changing with an alignment. Toe, which is the only thing you're thinking of, is incrementally changed as a byproduct.
