Thanks, that was quick. Don't have sensors in tires so guess that don't work any more. Gotta put a piece of tape over that little light on dash

X2. Without that damper installed your glove box will just drop.

I may be wrong... but did you search your manual?

And if your answer is, "I didn't get one", you can get a pdf download from Toyota.

Second time I took off the glove box thingy, I couldn't get it to go back on. I think it's in the glove box now. It's a convenience thing that Toyota screwed up by only having a weak piece of molded plastic to hold it in place.

It does do something, it was already explained. It's in your manual.

The thing in the glove box "slows" the speed at which the glove box opens.
Now, Let me explain why. Because if you let the door just fall open on it's own with a bunch of stuff in it, it "could" break the plastic "stops" that catch the box. If that happens then it will just dump all the stuff in the box in the floor.

Ultimately the real reason for that piece (aka Damper) is due to plastic in place of metal. But anyone over the age of about 30 should know you don't just let the glove box slam open anyways.

By the way, I took my damper off and just left it in the box. You have to take it off to replace the cabin filter. Most likely who ever checked or replaed the cabin filter left it off. It's not that hard to put back on, it just in a tight and inconvenient place.
