    Hey everyone,

I would love to see what products anyone suggests to use if they have replaced either of these! It is that time for some regular maintenance to the Tacoma. I am just over 66k miles on it and have yet to replace the spark plugs (although recommended every 30k) or the brakes.

So my first question is, any certain plugs that anyone recommends? Or is it easiest to just run to O'Rielly auto parts and pick up what they have and then attempt the change.

My next question is about the brake pads. I know I need new brake pads, but the rotors are good and don't need to be resurfaced or changed yet. So same general question here...what are some recommended brake pads for our Tacomas? I was thinking semi-metallics primarily but maybe ceramics if anyone highly recommends them.

One last piece of info is that I'll be doing all the labor myself with the help of my ol man. Thanks in advance for the help everyone!

I might be mistaken but I believe our spark plugs go 100K before changing them.

30,000 miles for the 6-cyl. 100,000 miles for the 4-cyl.

Just get the Denso ones from the dealer. As good as it gets.

Yep, my maintenance log states 30,000 for the 1GR-FE which is the V6. I figured I could double it, but don't wanna push it too much haha.

But thanks! I was either thinking the denso or the NGKs, I wasn't sure what the dealer has for sale.

You very well may not need brake pads unless you have a habit of ridding the brakes when driving. I have never had a set of pads replaced under 100K miles. Of course it depends on the driving style or what not.

Hm, I don't have any tendency to ride the brakes, but they are beginning to get a squeal. I'd rather change em and be sure rather than let them go too long and need to get the rotors resurfaced or completely changed. But I'll be sure to check when I pull everything apart and make sure it really needs new ones!

I went with Denso K20HR-U11 plugs and Duralast Gold CMax brake pads. No problems with either. Check youtube for how to videos - the installs are a breeze.

If you have the 30k plugs you can upgrade to the 100or 120 k plugs from the dealer it's the way to go and for you brakes if you are doing them you should get the rotors resurfaced if you don't you could get a squeak and or pulsation

Buy the plugs on Ebay. I paid less than $20 shipped for 6 OEM plugs.

I use NGK iriduim plugs... They come with just regular plugs, the iridium plugs will give a little better excelleration and MPG... I started getting 19.5 mpg and then I put on my 275 70 coopers now 17 flat city or hwy.....
