I had a bummer of a day; my transmission in my 1996 Tacoma is failing.

    It's a 1996 Tacoma 2.7L 4x4 with manual transmission.

Anyone have any lines on sources for used or rebuilt transmissions? or shops that could rebuild?

It won't go into gear with the engine running. I start it in 2nd and drive it. If I try to shift it will clunk out of gear but it won't go into gear again. The clutch only has 30k miles on it.

My guess is the sycros are completely gone.

Struggling finding one in North Idaho; i've run some numbers and places that will ship me a used one pulled out of a junkyard are within a $100 of buying a rebuilt one from Marlin Crawler (when you factor in the core exchange); probably going to end up going that route.

160k, but that's used what the odometer says. she was rode hard before i got her at 120k. When I got the truck the suspension was shot and both rear leaf packs were broken (only 1 leaf holding everything together). I promptly lifted it and changed all the fluids. Syncros have always been tight and worn feeling.
