Okay...Dad always said "if it's not broke--don't fix it!"

Well, he was right. My truck was in storage for a bit and I wanted to get the moss (yes moss) off from and aroud the windshield cowl. Well I took the cowl off, cleaned, put cowl back on. Now have little fresh-water leak when it rains Oregon= rains a lot) under glove box, which is where the cabin air filter and fresh air intake is. Did not leak before. I think I may have not lined it back up correctly or one of those little clips is not snapped tight to windshield?? :(

Anyone else have this happen? Comments or thoughts?

It's possible that the AC drain hose is clogged and it's causing your water problem. You can try and use compressed air to blow the line out.

This is common on the 2nd gen. Check the weatherstripping on the cowl against the windshield. Some have made little sheet metal shields over the filter to deflect water away. Search on 'water on passenger side floor' or something like that and you should find lots of info.

The cowl is what is supposed to deflect the water away. You should remove it and see what went wrong when you reinstalled it.

Cleaned out cowl-drains through fender= much stuff was in there...dirt, pine needles, leaves, etc. Supposed to rain hard today, so we'll see what happens. Also, found that I do not have a cabin filter, slot for one, but none...need to order one of those.;)

2005's didn't come with them. Not sure if it will actually go in either. It might have the slot, but no hooks for it.

Good luck. Where in Salem are you from?

My dad used to own the Westgate café. Now my aunt owns it.

    I'm from there originally.

The bottom of the windshield and the rubber strip on the black plastic cowl are very close to each other. Double check that you didn't accidentally put the rubber just under the edge of the windshield, as that would let the rainwater drop directly into the cabin air filter.
