i posted in Lighting...got a bunch of views, but no opinions. maybe i can get a few under this thread.

I have a 09 Prerunner with the typical burnt lenses, dingy lenses and dimming bulbs. Finally got a little extra saved, around 350.

Wheres the best place to get replacement housings? Maybe even an upgrade, like smoked or clear? Also, what's the general consensus for best non-HID bulbs? I drive alot of backroads at night so the brighter the better.

ideally, I'd like to replace housings, bulbs, and put a new DTRL bulb that won't melt, all for under 350. Is it possible? Thanks for the help everyone.

You can get replacement housings off ebay for under $200 that are already blacked out. For drl bulbs get vled triton v3 bulbs. They are super bright. I've got them on my truck and am competely happy with them. They are just as bright as the stock bulbs are, but without the heat. http://www.vleds.com/v3-triton/bulb-system/v3-a.html

I've seen nothing but bad reviews on the ebay housings due to leaking and fogging up. Might have to be resealed if you go that route.

Rims and tires , exhaust , stereo , Bhlm ,Changed carpet to black from grey. toytec ultimate lift kit. Allpro front bumper and light bar. In process of blacking out interior. Otrattw switches, black vinyl armrest mod, clazzio leather seat covers with heaters, flowmaster dual exhaust, hornblasters train horns,
Got the eBay lights and they leaked and fogged up. If you go that route make sure you seal them good before you install. Dried mine out, sealed them up and no problem since then.

Just run a bead of silicone around the edge of the housing.

This, from Daniel Stern on housings:

"Replacement headlamps need to be OEM items (automaker's own brand or the legitimate maker who provided them originally to the automaker) because all(!) of the aftermarket off-brand items (TYC, Depo, DJAuto, Eagle Eye, Helix, etc.) are garbage, despite spurious claims of "OEM quality", "SAE/DOT approved".
