Which A/t tire gives the best gas mileage on a tacoma ?
I know rolling resistance is a factor , but how bout optimal size?
The stock base tires (dung -lops) are 245/75/16 and light weight

Just installed some cooper at3 265/70/16 and saw my mileage drop 2 mpg
Coming from goodyear wrangler RTS in the same size (crappy tires)

    all input appreciated !!!

The Dunflops are a P-metric tire and the the Coopers are probably a LT making them heavier.

You sure you calculated that right? I only lost 3mpg going from stock (265/70/17) to 285/70/17 and a plate bumper, and a skid, and sliders, and lifted with a heavier suspension.

It's all in the right foot. Just installed 34" MTRs, first couple of tankfulls I was four wheeling, and kinda driving normal on road. Got CRAPPY milage, 15 & 16 mpg. Have been trying to get good fuel milage last tanks and knocked down an 18.5 mpg tankfull last time around. Was able to get 20.5 with the 275/70r/17's Silent Armors. Drive real easy, real easy. I'm using 11% size difference to calculate fuel milage. I know in Florida we have no real hills, but that'sa my experience.

You also went to a wider tire which is going to give more rolling resistance. I run 265/75/16 right now but when the are worn I'm going to 235/85/16. Skinnier so less resistance.

Undoubtedly. My fuel milage drops drastically in the rain. Pushing all that water out of the way. Wind kills mpgs now. Oh well. If you want to play, you have to pay.

I always get $%it for my MPG, but avg around 20.

LT 265/75/16 authorities load range C

sliders, avid bar, full toolbox, 2" lift, intake, blower, headers, 3" exhaust, y pipe.

20 mpg with an LT tire is good...I think the "75" height is better on these trucks
