Looking to replace the speakers in the front doors of my access cab. I plan to sound deaden the doors soon and want to replace them while I am in there. Still rocking the factory HU for now. May upgrade to the factory 2014 HU with Navi.
I want speakers that will work without messing with crossover stuff:confused:
I looked at crutchfield to get ideas but I dont know what i am looking for....
    Budget is $150ish

Most speakers from Alpine, Infinity, Kenwood, Pioneer, Polk Audio, and Rockford Fosgate will likely suit your ears. You're best bet is to go to a local car audio shop and listen to the different brands to see what you like. For instance, I'm not a huge fan of Infinity. However, there are other people (even here on TW) that swear by Infinity. It just depends on what you think sounds the best. And if they all sound the same to you, then go for the best price ;)

If you replace the woofers and the tweeters with a set of component speakers, they'll come with a crossover. A lot of times, the wires on the crossovers are labeled so you know which wires go to the tweeter and which wire goes to the woofer. In other words, its hard to mess up.

But! In my experience, I've had better results from replacing just the head unit than I have from replacing just the speakers. So you might consider saving a little bit longer and replace the head unit instead of the speakers.

I'm happy with my Polk 6.5" component system.

subscriubed. Don't use the stereo much but would like to know what is a decent upgrade speaker fot the same $150 budget. I like accuracy, cannot stand boomy bass, but prefer tight bass clean, crisp treble without harshness, and balanced mids....

Thanks for the advice! I know the HU upgrade will produce Far better sounding results than just speakers. I am 1/2 way through the process of Raamating my truck so i want to replace the speakers now rather then pull the door panels off twice. I will check out an audio store to hear some different brands, that is probably the safest bet. Thanks for the input.

I recommend against the Infinity component speakers. The tweeters were super sharp on the ears. The only way I could make it listenable was to make is sound muffled :( I ended up putting the stock tweeter back on.

I have the Infinity 2 way speakers in the back doors and those sound good.

If I were buying again, I would go to a store and listen more to what I thought was good. Likely would not buy the Infinity again.

I can tell you my plan will be NVX X series tweets, and eventually their mids as well in the doors.

These trucks appear very accomodating for larger components, and their gear looks like great value, sourced by a well known speaker company SB Acoustics.

They also sell these as a component system with passive crossover for a simpler system.

However, I'll be adding amp channels for more powa. :) If you have no plans for external amps, any lighter more efficient recommendations above would serve ok I suppose.
