Went to dealership for steering problem, they are replacing shaft, for over $500, plus an alignment.
Also came out and said I would need a front brake job, for the tune of another $500, then they discovered a rear axle seal leak(I never seen any leak on the ground), that axle leak fix will run me over $1,000, due to the fact that they said if affects fluid leaking into the rear brakes....I just paided this thing off, looks like back into the debt house

Stealerships....Jags. Take it to a local shop. I had my rear end fixed on my 2001 Tacoma for $250.00 from a local shop.

brakes are a lot easier than many people think. For that kind of money you could get high end rotors pads and shoes.

Wasn't there a TSB or Recall about the steering column?

I'm in the same boat. Don't go to the dealership aside for recalls. Don't go to independent shops aside for tires, large press usage, and maybe exhaust. DIY, find a weekend, grab a friend/local TW members, grill and beers after.
