gained about 1mpg

replaced my stock air filter with a k and N. just a drop in. getting about 17mpgs now. bought the deck plate and been thinking about doing that to see if my gas mileage improves even more. just concerned that ill be sucking hotter air.

 

What is this Deck plate you speak of?

Where you cut a big ass hole in the front of your airbox and put a deck plate in.

 

Generally speaking the hotter air intake temps will increase combustion efficiency and be the reason for increased fuel efficiency with this modification. The throttle plate is most times the limiting factor on intake volume and aftermarket filters offer very little in terms of increasing airflow.

 

This is better than a drop in K&N in terms of protecting your engine from impurities. It might yield a slight increase in air flow, but your throttle plate is still the limiting factor here.

 

well im gonna go ahead with the deck plate then.

 

Or just do the elbow mod. It's connected to the air box and fender. Cut the 90 degree off and reinstall. Cooler air from the fender and it's free.

 

Elbow mod doesn't make the sweet noise the deck plate does. I did the elbow first, but wasn't satisfied.
