    Hey guys/gals,

New member here, I am picking up my truck in two days. It's a Speedway Blue 2011 Tacoma 4 door TRD Off Road, Toyota certified. I've been wanting a truck for a while for camping, taking our 3 bikes to trails, guns and gear to the shooting range, and just carrying more than what would fit in my SUV.

I took my time finding one as I wanted the off road package and it seems like they never have them as "certified preowned", and I really wanted a warranty. I've always worked on my own vehicles, everything from minor repairs to internal engine work, but I'm getting to a point in my life where I'd rather be building something for fun or BBQing than laying on the ground repairing my vehicle.

The truck already has a topper on it, which is nice since I'd probably not have bought one, but will be great for hauling gear in bad weather. We are a family of 3, my daughter is 6. She is EXCITED about getting a truck. Tells me everyday this week that she can't wait to pick it up.

The only downside is I'm coming from an Infiniti FX35 AWD that is fully loaded, so I'm a little leary about giving up all the options. Nav, heated leather memory seats, smart key, intelligent cruise control, climate control,HID headlights, etc, etc. However, it's hatch was smaller than my fiances Camrys trunk, seriously. And it was getting old with 109000 miles and 10 years old. Little electronics started acting weird and I don't want to start pouring money into it.

Anyone else went from a luxury type vehicle to a Tacoma? Any tip for a first time Tacoma/First time truck owner?

I look forward to learning more about the truck here, and probably getting too many mod ideas :)

EDIT: Pics from getting it today: 14ig5dd_4c0a879901f023a8deaa6cbeea55a495a7079c2e.jpg

    Thanks for the welcome(s) guys.

I'm getting married in a little under 2 months so the mods will probably be put on a back burner for a while, but I haven't even picked it up yet and I already looked at bull bars, wheels, HID conversions and a few other things. :)

I picked it up today, added a pic to the original post. Ended up with the deal I wanted, so nothing to complain about there.

It was a little tough saying goodbye to the FX35 and all it's features. First thing that struck me was "this thing drives like a truck"...sounds crazy, but compared to my SUV which drove like a sports car, it took a few miles to get used to. By the time I made the 200 mile drive home I was fine with it, and look forward to spending more time having fun with it. 7 hours in a SUV/Truck in one day and it's hard to appreciate anything!

    Anyways, I'm "officially" a member now :)
