I have a 2012 access cab 4x4 tacoma 4 cylinder 5spd. I was thinking about putting a 3" leveling kit in the front and an inch in the back. Would this look wierd with 31" tires? Or should I just go with the 2 inch leving kit in the front?

you're gonna have the nose much higher than the rear if you put 3" on the front. you could use the bilstein 5100 adjustable shocks for the front and set them to .85 It'll be about perfect

Bilstein 5100's on all four corners. Front set @ 0 with OME 883x coils. Alcon leaf springs. Viper Alarm. Wet Okole seat covers. WeatherTech Floor liners front and back. Oem Toyota chrome exhaust tip. ARE Shell. America Outlaw Wheels.
You can do ^ . Or you can go with the 5100 bilstein set at 0 with the OME
883x coils . That gave me just under 2in. and the ride is exhalent. I didn't have to do nothing in the rear, just replaced the stock bilstein with the 5100's. Just my .02 cents. :)

The 2.25" front, and 1" rear works well. Especially if you're going to stick with 31" tires. I upgraded my tires to 265/70 17 Duratrac with this lift and it looks perfect. Looked good before with stock wheel and tire setup for TRD Sport as well.

what type of lift are you looking at? spacers, 5100's or full coil over swap? i tried the spacers with stock coils, the 5100's with stock coils and just few days ago did a full swap with ironman coil overs. the coil overs are GREAT! the other 2 previous attempts used the oem springs so i am sure that has alot to do with why i was not too fond of them, but considering the time and cost of going through all 3 options i would suggest just going with coil over kit. i still have a set of oem coils and struts with the spacers installed if you want them. the struts have alot of miles on them though. and i dont feel like compressing them just to take out the spacers to give away honestly. but your more than welcome to them. using the stock coils with either the spacers or the 5100's limits the travel, the springs bottom and rub alot! currently i have i believe 1.75" blocks in the back and about 2.75" in the front and its about even. there is between 23" and 23.5" inches from center of the front wheel to fender flare. the oem tires on oem 17" wheels measure real world about 30 inches so you should be fine as far as clearance and looks. about a year ago i went back to stock tires and rims and still kept the same height and i think it looks fine plus no worries on tire rub in any conditions.

some 31's with 3" lift would look pretty sweat i think, the only issue i would mention in 3" is about the max in the front, for alignment sake i would keep it a little under, maybe like 2.75" but thats just my 2 pennies worth.

side note, i have a prerunner, so alot less weight in the front so although i have an inch or so difference between the front and back, with a 4x4 you may need a little more in the front.

also take into consideration if you are going to be adding a grille guard, bull bar or winch bumper and compensate for the additional weight.

    cheers,
    disco

Good to know. I was wondering if I should go with the 3" or just stick to two inches because I just bought some 31 Mud Stars that I really like and I don't want to get rid of just yet. Thanks man.:)
